1:05 – 1:50pm, Capitalizing on the Underutilization Autistic Workforce with David Kearon
In this session, Dave Kearon, Director of Adult Services for Autism Speaks, will describe autism spectrum disorder and its inherent challenges as well as the strengths shared by many people with autism, and how autistic employees can be empowered and supported to contribute in the workplace.
Dave will also lead a Q&A session in which autistic advocates will talk about the challenges they have faced obtaining jobs that are commensurate with their abilities, and how they have overcome these barriers.
2:05 – 2:50, Visionary Talent – Your Blind Workforce with Mike May
In this session, Mike May, the new CEO for the Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. here in Seattle will review the wide spectrum of blindness, discuss supports that that can help insure accessibility and productivity for a visually impaired workforce.
Mike will also lead a Q&A session where blind employees will talk about the challenges they have overcome and how they did this. You will be inspired by the dedication and drive these panelists have demonstrated to become successful in their daily career responsibilities.

In this session, you will hear directly from our Panel: Rebecca Aragon, highly lauded Attorney & Senior Shareholder at Littler Mendelson; and Diane Swonk, renowned Economist & Founder of Diane Swonk Economics, on their journeys as dyslexics. This session will include a Q&A with Dr. Sally Shaywitz serving as moderator for the Panel.
